Lucie Wenmakers, Moderator Round Table Discussion

Lucie Wenmakers, Business Development Manager at Brightlands Chemelot Campus. She has studied Polymer Material Science at the University of Twente in The Netherlands and has completed a postdoc diploma in Marketing & Business Administration. She started her professional career at DSM Research, in the thermoplastic composite development lab, at the end of the 1980s.

Even back then the focus was on developing new materials that were easier to recycle. Subsequently Lucie started an own business, and worked as a business developer in a range of sectors in New Zealand. Since returning to NL in 2010, she has worked in roles ranging from R&D manager to BU director for Evonik and Sekisui. Since

2017 Lucie works for the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, focused on connecting sustainable materials companies with the Brightlands Materials Ecosystem. Priority activities include scale-up of (chemical) recycling of plastic waste and production of biobased materials.

Brightlands Chemelot Campus is a chemical open innovation hub, based in the Netherlands, and supports start-ups, SMEs and corporates to speed up innovation. A key focus of Brightlands is the development of THE Circular Hub in Europe.
